4" eggcrate, 4" latex or 4" memory foam.
Until your back bones are firm and mature it would do you best to settle only for 4′ latex.As soon as your backs are firm and good you should opt for 3"or 10cm eggcrate.None should at any circumstance go for a 4′ memory foam.
I don’t want a Tempur Pedic (or similar foam type beds) or Select Comfort number beds - I’m reading too many negative reviews of these popular brands, and they seem pricey for something I have to live with the rest of my life… I have lower back pain and am currently using a firm Simmons mattress, but would like the optimal bed for a reasonable cost. Anybody have some suggestions? Thanks!
My suggestion is checking out local auctions. Most of the time they have new or like new beds and they sell very cheap.
If someone has night sweats (showers every day) and has a memory Foam Mattress topper that has started to smell funny, how do you clean/freshen the topper?
They sell a spray can of carpet freshener or of fabric refresher, then spray it on, let it dry, then you can vacuum it if you want but you don’t have to. They sell it right at the Dollar Tree and its a foam you spray on.
My husband and I have been to a couple of shops to try some beds out. We don’t want one with any springs in, we want a total memory Foam Mattress with latex on too. We tried quite a few, the beds were numbered 1 - 10 with 1 being the softest and 10 being the firmest and the one we liked was numbered 7. Just wondered if anyone had any good recommendations. I have a queen size mattress that I love which is pretty hard. My girlfriend does not like sleeping on a mattress that hard. Is there anything I can do to soften up half the mattress. I don’t want to buy a new mattress. We have tried a feather insert and foam and it wasn’t good enough. Is there anything that could be done?
I would suggest the pillow toppers they have that attach like a sheet. They are quilted and add a layer of cushion. In the long run though, it sounds like you’ll need a sleep number bed. Otherwise you could always get a new girlfriend =0)
My grandmother has a king sized tempurpedic mattress and is moving to a smaller house that no longer has room for it. She has offered me the mattress but I live several states away and it will be shipped to my house. I was wondering if you could cut it in half for:
1. Less weight per mattress half
2. More compact
3. Easier to move
I can always just push them back together on the frame in my house if this idea is plausible. If you are going to say that it will ruin the mattress, please support your ideas. 
I don’t understand how cutting a memory Foam Mattress will ruin it. I understand spring mattresses, because, well, common sense.

before you hack it in half, talk to the company that will be shipping it. Even cut in half, while each half will weigh less, now you are paying for 2 itemss to be shipped and together the weight is still the same but you will need 2 protective covers or both will need to be wrapped, etc, and 2 fees, besides the weight fee.
After all, those size mattresses get shipped all the time as it is, from new.
So if you did need to cut it in half, I don’t see a problem with it if they for sure are just a certain kind of foam. As for putting them back together, I would imagine some creative use of duct tape wrapped securely around the 2 halves to secure them would work.

I bought one 2 years ago paid over 1000.00 and I hated it after 1 1/2 yrs.
the foam breaks down and settles to your shape and then gives no support.. I went back to my old bed till i can afford a new spring mattress.They will not warranty it until it settles 1 in. down… I would buy a 750+ spring count mattress if it were me.. Sorry
