Are foam mattresses hotter to sleep on than an inner-spring mattress?
Thinking about a memory Foam Mattress. I live in Florida and like to be cool when I sleep.
they can be, but I"ve found that by using a high thread count sheet and a mattress pad that lowers the temp, that I stay very cool..

Do I need to buy a box spring mattress?
I am looking to buy a 13in memory foam king size mattress! If I make this purchase, do I still need to buy a box spring for it or can it sit on a frame on its own? Also, if I DO need to buy a box spring, does 2 twin size box springs=1 king size?
Memory Foam Mattresses more often than not use foundations not boxsprings.
A steel bed frame by itself will not support a memory Foam Mattress.
An option may be to buy a platform bed
Put it on plywood (drilling holes will not help if the foam is not a breathable memory foam in the first place)
It can also go on the floor ( hope your your young)
Here is a helpful blog on what boxspring and foundations do.

Why are foam mattress pads textured?
I was just curious as to the point of most Foam Mattress pads having that egg shell texture. Some are flat on both sides, but most seem to have this bumpy thing going on. I assume there’s some kind of reasoning behind this, anyone know what it is? Thanks.
Ahhh, I found out. http://www.myfoammattress.net/compare/egg-crate.html
Told me what I wanted to know!
The "egg crate" texture allows them to be soft but still be firm, if that makes sense. Your body presses down on the bumps and they collapse to the same level as the lower areas. Hospitals use egg-crate mattresses and pads to prevent pressure ulcers (bed sores) because they don’t press back against the skin all at the same place and the same pressure.

Any have a Dux bed? Is it worth over $4000?
I have tried five mattresses in three years, including the Tempuer-Pedic, a Foam Mattress, and several inner-spring mattresses. I have also tried both thick and thin memory foam toppers, a featherbed topper, and a latex topper, and still get back pain and toss and turn, mostly from pressure points. I don’t like the fact that sleep number beds have that barrier in the middle, so I am considering a Dux.
I sell mattress for a living and no mattress is worth the money that dux wants. Have you tried a latex mattress. Not just a topper. In my experience a latex mattress should help with the problems that you have.
self inflatable camping mat all lumpy after buying brand new?
I just bought a brand new coleman self inflatable queen size mattress the slim line design that folds in half before rolling up. When I got it home and inflated it, there are huge waves in it and the foam seems to be all flat and bunched up in areas. I took it back to the shop and they told me to put it out in the sun for a few days for it to return to a flat position, but im wondering if this is normal? and will it go flat. The one in the show room looks fine? 6cm thick
In the camping world, Coleman is pretty much shunned with the exception of their propane stoves and lanterns . I know spending more money sucks but you may want to go with a better quality mattress. If the one at the store is to your liking then I guess exchange the one you have and give the new one a shot but they are cheap and mass produced so you really won’t be getting much at best .
Why does my lower back hurt more after getting a memory foam mattress and how can I fix it?
I just bought a $1500 memory Foam Mattress and now my lower back is hurting even more than before. I can barely get up in the morning or get out of a low chair (like a car seat) some days. What could be going on here and how can I fix it. I dont have health insurance and am kinda broke so a doctor does not seem to be in my near future.
As rebel g said, you could have bulged or ruptured discs in your back as I do. You should really go to a doctor before it gets worse. My back specialist said for someone with back problems it is best to sleep on a firm mattress. He suggested to me that I put a sheet of ply-wood in between my mattress and box springs. Since I got a firmer mattress and put the wood under it I sleep better and don’t hurt half as much as I did, especially in the mornings.
Good Luck!
