MEMORY FOAM MATTRESS TOPPERS………?

are they any good first of all?? I have cancer, and chemo makes me ache all over. I now find my previously very comfortable mattress feels very hard. I have the opportunity to get a memory foam topper at a very cheap price…and the lady says it’s 3 inches thick.
What do you think? And also the topper is a king size – I only need a double but wouldn’t get another nearly new at that price quick enough. How difficult would it be to cut it down to size? I don’t mind it being a bit rough round the edges, as it were, as I only need it temporarily.

Any advice will be gratefully recieved, thank you

Where can I get bedding for my king sized bed?

I have an all red and black theme in my bedroom. I have an almost black rosewood king sized bed being made. I plan to buy a memory Foam Mattress, but need linens to cover it. Honestly, price is no object, I want the best. Only red and/or black. I would prefer the comforter/duvet be mostly/completely red, to stand out against the dark wood. An abstract pattern or oriental design would be perfect. I have checked overstock, amazon, bed bath and beyond, and the other sites that pop up in google. I eventually gave up because there are thousands of sets and very few do not contain any other colors. Silk, satin, whatever, as long as it doesn’t feel cheap. Thanks for any info!

Have you tried Macy’s or Bloomindales?
This one reverses to red, has an Asian feel and would look nice but is a coverlet. Fabric isn’t mentioned. Asian inspired rooms generally are more simplistic – no froo froo.

Eastern Accents manufactures to the trade but they also have some retail stores. You would need to check the locater. I like theirs better than the Macy’s one. You can also try Ethan Allen or Thomasville to work with a design consultant and have one custom made.

Best Mattress for your health

Choosing a mattress is somewhat of an art. It is not difficult but you do have to know a few key things, make a plan and you have to follow that plan to the letter. It is also very important to have a clear idea of your needs before you even think of shopping for a mattress. http://www.mattressexpert.net

Can you cut a king sized tempurpedic mattress in half?

My grandmother has a king sized tempurpedic mattress and is moving to a smaller house that no longer has room for it. She has offered me the mattress but I live several states away and it will be shipped to my house. I was wondering if you could cut it in half for:
1. Less weight per mattress half
2. More compact
3. Easier to move

I can always just push them back together on the frame in my house if this idea is plausible. If you are going to say that it will ruin the mattress, please support your ideas. :)
I don’t understand how cutting a memory Foam Mattress will ruin it. I understand spring mattresses, because, well, common sense.

Thank you so much!

before you hack it in half, talk to the company that will be shipping it. Even cut in half, while each half will weigh less, now you are paying for 2 itemss to be shipped and together the weight is still the same but you will need 2 protective covers or both will need to be wrapped, etc, and 2 fees, besides the weight fee.
After all, those size mattresses get shipped all the time as it is, from new.
So if you did need to cut it in half, I don’t see a problem with it if they for sure are just a certain kind of foam. As for putting them back together, I would imagine some creative use of duct tape wrapped securely around the 2 halves to secure them would work.

Can I cut mattress memory foam to be pillow.?

I have 4 inches serta memory foam in king size but I will not use it.. Can I cut it as a pillow??

any suggestion??

Great idea, its thrifty, plus you’re recycling and saving it from going to landfill :-)

You can cut foam the easiest and most straight using a kitchen electric carving knife, works lickety-split !!

is this a lame decoration idea?

I am a mattress salesman so I get great deals on the biggest mattresses- sometimes even free.

I have a small apartment thought- I have a california king I won thats really nice (one of those memory foam ones) I think if I put it in my bedroom it takes up too much space

but what if I put the king size in the bedroom and got a nice bed frame like one of those modern leather ones and used my cal king like a couch? and then got a queen for the bedroom- or I could use the bedroom as an office

It could look good depending on the bed- or it could look kinda dumb- but I would have the most comfortable couch on the block :-)

What do you guys think???
oops i meant put the king size in the LIVING ROOM instead of getting a couch- sorry- too much coffee today
p.s. it would be a low profile mattress 11 inches on a low profile bed to avoid excessive cheesiness the bed is here http://plummers.com/?page=shop/flypage&page_back=shop/category_items&offset=0&product_id=1735&category_id=c1e0d9a7fb6a657ca914607535c7cdd1

Go for it! If you get it at a really good price or even free, take advantage of it! You could fix it up to be a really cool daybed sort of thing! Just get those big huge fluffy throw pillows for the back! And even if you couldn’t use it in your house whose to say you couldn’t sell it and make a couple of bucks!

WEIMARANER TRAINERS: Is there a dog bed my Weimaraners WON’T tear up?

I am good trainer in every aspect but the torn dog bed.
Mine are 90 pound 12 year-old dogs and they have destroyed every bed I have ever provided in spite of how much attention they receive. I cannot sleep i the same room with them and I have not slept with them since they were puppies and found that I am allergic to them and they snore. I take an allergy pill if the symptoms are too severe during the day and I keep them clean to limit their allergic qualities. Recently they went three weeks without tearing up the King sized quilted cotton bed comforter that I put on the floor for them. They are inside dogs with a dog door to go to the backyard whenever they want.
They have had the outdoor kind of beds with chips in them, the cloth covered foam beds and even a twin sized mattress once. I love these two dogs and will keep them no matter what they do, but it is very expensive to protect their bones from the hard floors. When they went without a bed for a few months in the summer months they developed big callouses and scrape marks on their legs and I can’t have that happen again. I can’t even estimate how expensive it has been to keep these dogs comfortable.
Does anyone out there have chronic dogbed destroyers that foud a soft bed solution that the dogs do NOT destroy? Even the veterinarians we have seen have run out of ideas.
When they eventually die of old age I obviously will not get a large breed dog again.
P.S. Their health is very good. The vet said their blood panels from their yearly exams show their health is better than most dogs half their age.
They tore up a pile of towels too but not until they had them for a week. They are two 90 pound dogs, so there must be a lot of fabric between them and the hard floor to protect their joins and give some cushioning.
This is a tough problem to solve, isn’t it?
"to protect their…" JOINTS
[ sorry--Type-O]

Would you buy this mattress?

The Kumo Mattress is designed with a boxspring made with real bamboo and 7 layers of Japanese cotton as well as pillow top cushions with a special long lasting foam inside of them so that they will not wear out or go flat for decades and decades. It comes in twin, full, queen, and king size. The price ranges from 1400 – 2000 dollars. This product is being marketed from an exotic point of view. So as consumers, what could I add to make this product even more exotic (especially Japanese)? What would you like in this mattress? What do you like about it so far?
If you do not want the mattress please explain why.
and give me advice on how to improve it

Pros:
Sounds comfortable
Sounds durable

Cons:
To expensive; can find plenty of comfortable mattresses with a much smaller price tag

Questions:
Being that you are going for a Japanese look and appeal; will this mattress fit a classic platform bed or is it designed for a classic Japanese futon?

Will this product be available in stores; or sold on-line?

Does this mattress contour to a person’s body?

How will this product be marketed?

What makes your mattress different from other classic Japanese mattresses?
