MEMORY FOAM MATTRESS TOPPERS………?

are they any good first of all?? I have cancer, and chemo makes me ache all over. I now find my previously very comfortable mattress feels very hard. I have the opportunity to get a memory foam topper at a very cheap price…and the lady says it’s 3 inches thick.
What do you think? And also the topper is a king size – I only need a double but wouldn’t get another nearly new at that price quick enough. How difficult would it be to cut it down to size? I don’t mind it being a bit rough round the edges, as it were, as I only need it temporarily.

Any advice will be gratefully recieved, thank you

Do I need to buy a box spring mattress?

i’d go for it hun, my aunty has liver cancer, and she went through the same thing.

the only thing is.. how easy do you find it to turn your self over?
as once youve laid in it, and it forms its self around you, it can be difficult to turn your self.
hope all works out ok x

They are quite comfortable, I’m lying on one as i type this, but pillow toppers are much more comfortable, my girlfriend has one and it feels like lying on a cloud, good luck with your kemo

They do get hot and many become havens for mildew/mold, dust mites and other allergens.
There are hypo-allergenic toppers made of other materials if that is your need.

Best of luck on your Chemo!

It depends how you like to sleep, they hug your body and reduce pressure spots. The topper come in different thicknesses and you should be looking at over 2 inches thick for it to be effective.
Some of the new toppers are advertised cool or low heat, I’m not sure if you could put a topper under a quilted mattress protector to help eliminated the heat problem.
The topper can also be layered; different densities of the foam are layered together, but these are more expensive. The normal single foam topper still use different density’s of foam to give a firmer or softer feel but I’m not sure how this is measured.

There is a lot of good advice here.

I would only ad that there are many differnet kinds of toppers. These are not a one size fixes all problems solution.
