Im about to buy a new bed but ive no idea what type of mattress to go for, can anyone help?
Theres foam, memory foam, sprung, latex, etc. Im not sure what is right for me and i dont have time to go to shops and test them out. I want softness and value for money. Id be grateful for your suggestions!

If you are looking for soft mattress, you could go for memory foam mattress. It is very soft and it conforms to your body. But the price is quite high, a queen size mattress will cost between $1,000 to $3,000 dollars.
For sprung or spring mattress, it is generally harder than memory foam and cheaper.
My suggestion is that you go for a sprung / spring mattress with an additional pillow or plush top. This is an additional layer of foam that will give you the additional softness.
Just ask the salesman for sprung mattress with plush / pillow top and they will know what you mean.

You are absolutely correct there are Thousands of different types of beds. Just like shoes etc. If you would let someone else pick those out for you then your making the right choice asking for the publics help in selecting a mattress. If not you are at the mercy of people who do not know you or you them. Their (our) tastes probably will not and does not reflect yours.
My preferences in order of 23 years of experience in mattress retail.
Latex Rubber
Softside Waterbed Is what I sleep on currently and love it
Memory Foam
Mattress and Boxspring
I would not own an Airbed.
