self inflatable camping mat all lumpy after buying brand new?
I just bought a brand new coleman self inflatable queen size mattress the slim line design that folds in half before rolling up. When I got it home and inflated it, there are huge waves in it and the foam seems to be all flat and bunched up in areas. I took it back to the shop and they told me to put it out in the sun for a few days for it to return to a flat position, but im wondering if this is normal? and will it go flat. The one in the show room looks fine? 6cm thick
In the camping world, Coleman is pretty much shunned with the exception of their propane stoves and lanterns . I know spending more money sucks but you may want to go with a better quality mattress. If the one at the store is to your liking then I guess exchange the one you have and give the new one a shot but they are cheap and mass produced so you really won’t be getting much at best .
I would take it back. It may have been sold and used before and not properly inflated it’s first time. If moisture got into the system the mat is ruined. it will always be bunched up. The retailer is hoping that by his suggestion it will self repair. I doubt it.

been there done that
Return it. If its that badly bunched up then I doubt it`ll fix itself. It was probably stored improperly.
I would also stay away from self inflating pads that you have to fold because that crease will eventually inhibit the flow of air into the mattress and you`ll end up with a half inflated mattress. You`re better off getting individual mattresses
